day358 – La Belle Ferronnière

August 25, 2021August 25, 2021 by Amarnath

Today I had a pretty long train journey and I happened to go through the biography of Leonardo da Vinci written by Walter Isaacson.

This book enlightened me in many ways. Even the very name Leonardo Da Vinci means “Leonardo From Vinci”. All these years I have been (I think most of us) calling Leonardo as “From Vinci” 😃

I was aware that along with beautiful paintings da Vinci drew many sketches of human anatomy but this book informed me that his design thinking was spread across military engineering to hydraulics!

In this book, we can see almost all the paintings of da Vinci (from the Mona Lisa to the Last Supper), but for the first time, I saw a painting named “La Belle Ferronniere”, the portrait of a lady with an alluring or mysterious smile!

I gazed at that painting for quite a long time! I just loved it!

My gratitude to Walter Isaacson for this incredible work and research. And, on a personal note, also for showing me “La Belle Ferronniere”.
