Today I was thinking about the size of cellphones we’ve been using over the past 10-15 years. Along with the technology, the physical dimensions have also been increasing in terms of size.
Whenever we migrate to a larger phone, the previous smaller one looks and feels very tiny and light. It’s a fact we’ve all experienced. One more thing I have observed is that the way we hold a smartphone is dependent on our little finger. I don’t know how many of you have noticed this. Whenever we swipe, watch a video, take selfies or other photographs, for almost all these actions, most of the weight of the phone is balanced on the little finger.
I don’t think in the evolution of humans, at least in the last 10,000 years, there’s been any other strong continuous use of our little fingers for a specific purpose in this manner.
Today let us express our gratitude to our little fingers for all the hours of gazing we do at our cellphone screens, for all the videos we have watched, for all the swipes we’ve made, and for all the selfies we have taken.
