Today is a special day! 🙂 As all my readers know, it’s been 330 days since I have been writing and posting these gratitude notes simultaneously on Facebook and Instagram.
But three days back something happened unexpectedly. My content for day 326 was the African philosophy of Ubuntu, and the image I set to post along with the content was of a group of African kids forming a “circle of unity” with their legs.
When I posted it on Facebook on the 24th of July my account was suspended for the reason that the image I shared contained nudity and that it didn’t follow their community standards! (I still don’t know how the legs of children constitute nudity!)
Since I was temporarily blocked from Facebook for 3 days I couldn’t post anything on Facebook but I kept posting the content on Instagram without breaking the chain as always.
This unexpected setback from Facebook made me think of building an independent platform where I could freely express my thoughts and perspectives without having to be tied down by anyone’s arbitrary criteria or community standards.
So I built www.amarnathsankar.com over the last 3 days and it is now live!
It’s my personal blog and you can access my content there along with other platforms.
I express my gratitude to Facebook today for being the reason for my independent website and blog. If Facebook hadn’t suspended me it would never have been a reality today!
