Those who studied engineering mathematics know that you cannot pass the exam without practicing the problems. Even if you know the concept, if you don’t practice it, you won’t pass the exams.
I was always quite lazy to practice problems so semester after semester I got mathematics papers as backlog while I was studying for my engineering degree.
When I was about to complete my course I had an array of mathematics papers as back papers, almost 5. I didn’t know what to do and how to crack this puzzle. On the other hand, I was also not so excited about sitting and solving and practicing problems.
Around that time I came to know about a mathematics teacher who was like a magician on the outskirts of Madurai, someone who could make any student pass engineering mathematics.
I got his contact and approached him, he actually had a medical equipment business and mathematics was his passion. He provided tuition to mathematics students, and he made them pass. When we say tuition, it wasn’t a one month or 6-month tuition, just a one-day tuition, that was the USP (unique selling proposition) of the teacher.
So I went there, he randomly picked 10 problems for each paper and he made me understand in one day how to solve all the 10 problems. He made me solve them once, and asked me to work on just those 10 problems.
I did what he said and magically, unbelievably, I passed that paper and, eventually, all the other papers as well.
Later we became close friends and a very engaging relationship flourished between us.
Today a junior of mine inquired about his contact number to make one of his friends pass the mathematics exam. I passed it along and recalled memories of this magician.
Today I am extending my gratitude to this master because without his wisdom I don’t think I could have ever passed those mathematics papers.
