I was chit-chatting with a friend of mine. A decade ago he was my batchmate in college but he dropped the course because of ragging. (Yes, in those days ragging was widespread on our campus and in the hostel.)
When I look at the ragging experiences of those days I realise it was mental and physical abuse, which is a criminal offence but we were not aware of the degree of its seriousness back then.
Even though we suffered a lot during that time, I think that experience made us tougher.
We really missed our friend who had to drop out, and wished the events hadn’t affected him that badly. However, when I look back, I’m very much grateful to those days which played a very crucial role in shaping us into who we are today.
