I happened to read an excerpt from the novel “If Only It Were True” (French: Et si c’etait vrai) by the French novelist Marc Levy.
It was this:
Imagine you wake up every day with 86,400 dollars in your bank account. And by evening the bank will take back whatever balance money you have in your account. And on the next day, it will again be filled with another 86,400 dollars. You cannot carry forward the balance amount in the account to the next day but only you can spend the money each day on things you can buy. Then you would do everything in your power to spend it, invest it wisely. Because you know at the end of the day it will be withdrawn forever.
Every day our life is filled with 86,400 seconds. Whether we spend or invest it wisely or not, it cannot be carried forward to the next day. The unspent time is lost forever and the next day is again refilled with 86,400 seconds…then why waste time and not make use of it in the best manner?!
The clock is running. Let’s make the most of today’s seconds!
My gratitude to Marc Levy for this brilliant and invaluable observation!
