I was having dinner with my friends at a restaurant, there were very few people, probably because of the COVID-19 scenario, but there was well-maintained social distancing and stuff like that.
There was a singer who sings for the guests. Even though I was chatting with my friends, I was observing him. People were coming in, going out, laughing, there was a birthday celebration, but he kept on singing song after song. Some people greeted him, some appreciated him, some didn’t even notice him, but he kept on singing.
What I felt was that he was doing a pretty decent job, and keeping up the good work irrespective of his audience or whether people appreciated him. I think maybe he has been doing this for days or years, the same job, being here in the restaurant and singing. He did good work and was totally detached from the appreciation of the people who listened.
I think this is a wonderful day to express our gratitude to all the singers who sing for us melodiously, who make our moments more beautiful even though we might ignore them or not notice them.
