This morning, my friend and I were coming out of the hotel where we stay in Bangalore and there was a COVID19 protocol inspector in front of the hotel. While he was inspecting me he said, “Sir, you are looking great.” I felt really good about it 😛
I asked my friend to take the car, told him I’d be right back. There’s a coffee shop on the ground floor near the security centre of the hotel which has a large wall mirror. I went and stood in front of it, and when I saw myself, I thought yes, what he said is right, I really do look great and I took a couple of mirror selfies…
Meanwhile, my friend was waiting at the exit and I was walking towards the car. I was about to get into the car when I heard, “Sir, you are looking great.” I thought to myself, I know I am looking great, why is this guy repeating it again and again?
I turned back and what I saw was that there was a new guest checking into the hotel and the same inspection guy was telling the guest exactly what he’d told me. I had mixed emotions for fraction of a second, but I really liked his attitude. It may be that just an expression or a couple of words brought positivity and an extra sense of confidence and warmth in the morning to both the guests. We can really make someone else’s day a better one in the way we greet and wish them if we pay enough attention, that’s what I concluded from the incident. I was aware of this, but it was a reminder.
Today I am gratefully remembering the guy who made me feel great! 😉
