There is an ayurvedic healer in Northern Malabar who’s named Ustad Hamza. He is more a Sufi to me.
He has a great, original vision for a peaceful and prosperous life, and is famous for his ayurvedic single-dose medicines (Ottamooli) that can cure any disease we encounter in our day-to-day lives. He has inimitable expertise in wounds and skin diseases. There are many cases that other modern medical doctors have rejected that have been completely, amazingly healed by Ustad Hamza.
Something I admire about him is he always says that before you take a treatment you need to make your body and mind receptive to it. For that you need to cleanse your body and mind. Just taking the medicine won’t bring any change to your lives.
He has a prescriptive list to be followed by his patients and the top ones are very fascinating . One is trying to be vegetarian, the second is to always try to clean your mouth in the morning with natural products, the third is not to overexploit anything on this planet, it could be a tree, a plant, a human being.
He has a magical formula to make everyone’s life blissful. He is a Malayali and call it “Oonu, Urakam, Ullasam, Unmadam” (Food, Sleep, Amusement, Ecstasy), the four key pillars of a blissful contented life.
If you maintain the balance of these four – the food, the sleep, the amusements we have, and ecstasy – without overexploiting anything, you will have a wonderful life on this planet. That is Ustad’s perspective and I really admire it.
For many reasons today I am gratefully remembering Ustad Hamza.
