Recently a friend of mine had a wonderful post on his social account titled “Agree to Disagree.” It was very beautiful, and I thought about it a lot. I personally have been trying to implement and practice that perspective in my life.
We don’t need to see things in black and white, there are grey areas, there are possibilities and common grounds where we can negotiate, we can spread peace instead of hatred. It is obvious that there are chances of differences of opinion in our social, personal or professional circles. The differences could be political, personal, a social ideology, or a religious belief or spiritual perspective, it could be about social hierarchy, technology, creativity, taste, it could be anything.
Every human being is unique and every human being has the privilege, calibre and capability to have an opinion and unique perspective. We are not reptiles, we are human with our amazing cerebellar cortex and frontal lobes of the developed brain, the most evolved organ in the world.
We can be more civilized, more gentle, more humane than animalistic, we can spread peace, embrace each other’s opinion, have differences in opinion, we can disagree and we can still be friends!
When someone doesn’t agree with you, it doesn’t mean that you have to compromise or give up that engagement or relationship. No, you can still be friends, you can still be in good resonance with all due respect to the opinion that you disagree with.
I think it’s amazing, and today I am grateful to this beautiful and one of the most humane perspectives in the world – “Agree to Disagree.”
