This evening I was having a discussion with a friend of mine who is an entrepreneur in the hospital and healthcare sector.
We were chit-chatting and discussing many scenarios and he asked me how our business is doing. I told him it was quite uncertain, especially the first and second quarter of this financial year and later started picking up, we had started our operations in other states as well. I asked him how his was going and he said, “It’s okay we are just managing.”
I asked him, “Just managing? In my understanding, the healthcare and hospital sector is performing extremely well.” But he told me that’s just a misunderstanding.
He told me that in Kerala itself, the number of people who visited hospitals had drastically reduced, only COVID patients or people with extreme health issues were visiting hospitals. He added that diseases like flu, viral fever etc. were being transmitted at lower rates because of new habits like wearing masks and sanitizing hands regularly. People had also started eating at home and the chances of food poisoning had been reduced. In short, whatever disease could be cured with an antibiotic has been drastically reduced to 10%, a decrease of 90%.
This was an amazing insight that I received from the ground and I thought I should share this with you guys as a note because yes, our improved lifestyle, our proactive ways of maintaining hygiene is literally bringing a new normal to the state, I believe it reflects in the entire country as well as in the world.
So, this is hopeful, this is beautiful, this is amazing, and even though the COVID days are challenging and slightly disturbing, let’s look on the brighter side, let us build, nurture and continue the habits which we have learned from this challenge which would definitely go towards ensuring a better healthcare culture for us tomorrow.
So, today let’s be thankful for the brighter side.
