I am a very lazy person, especially lazy about waking up early in the morning unless there is something very important to do.
A few months back I met my grandmother. I asked her how she manages her exemplary lifestyle because she wakes up by 4-4:30 in the morning, immediately has a bath and only then does she involve herself in any activity. She takes only 2 meals in a day, breakfast and lunch, and doesn’t eat anything after 7 p.m., she doesn’t have dinner. She is 75 years old and does not have a single grey hair on her head. So I was curious and asked her, “Ammama (grandmother), have you always been like this since you were a child. Have you been following this amazing lifestyle since you were very young?”
She paused for a while and told me, “No .” When she was young, she was not particular about waking up very early in the morning, and she used have a bath by noon, and like anyone else she had 3 meals in a day.
But she told me, “One thing changed, everything in my life!” It was that she lost her husband (my grandfather) when she was only 43 years old, and that was a shock to her. She told me that it was then she decided to sacrifice one meal in the day, that’s dinner, and she decided that she wouldn’t do anything unless she woke up very early in the morning and had a bath.
Perhaps it was a kind of devotion or maybe the beginning of her spiritual journey! I don’t know what to call it! For the last 32 years, she has been following the same routine and she is still strong and even looks younger than my mother who’s her eldest kid.
What I want to conclude with today’s note is that we all have scars in our lives, some people complain, they get disappointed or even depressed, but some legends wear those scars like an ornament, and they leverage it to transform their lives to another dimension…!
I am sure you and me, we have all experienced pain, we have these scars on us, let’s embrace those scars, let’s be grateful to those scars, and let’s use those scars to transform our lives…
