We are nothing but a result of our habits. Our destiny, our reality is created purely out of our habits. There have been a lot of studies focusing on this human quality of how to create, adapt, break a habit, in different dimensions of science.
Among those studies, an idea which I felt was simple and sensible is the idea of making/breaking a habit in 21 days. It is a point on which the eastern and western sciences meet. Modern psychology has many studies that seem to indicate that repeating a simple action for 21 days makes it easier to turn it into a habit. At the same time, there are many scriptures and perceptions about the 21-day cycle in eastern traditions as well.
It could be kickstarting workouts, could be quitting a habit like drinking carbonated drinks or starting a vegan diet, or avoiding too many sweets and chocolates, it could be starting to write something, or regulating social media usage, reading a book, starting to meditate, it could be anything.
We already know the things we need to do or adapt or avoid in our routines/habits. This 21-day practice is a wonderful tool for executing the changes we need to make that we have identified. We understood yesterday (eating frogs) how to prioritize the things we need to get done. Today we can learn how to implement those wishes/plans as part of our life, as a habit.
Today we are on the 21st day of the 365 Days of Gratitude series and I felt like this is the right day to talk about this beautiful art of crafting our own destiny.
Let’s be grateful to those masters who have identified the idea of the 21-day cycle which has the phenomenal power to transform one’s life.
