I recently read a book called “The Art of Asking” by Amanda Palmer, an American musician. She attained glory on the front lines of the music industry through her determination and passion. In this book, she reveals a simple but magical tool she has applied throughout her journey, which is the art of asking.
She never hesitated to ask for help and answers from people.
I think even in classrooms when a teacher asks whether we have any doubts, many times we swallow our doubts since we hesitate to ask questions, and leave that class with a feeling of dissatisfaction. The same might happen to us in the presence of an influential person or someone we admire, we may even be too hesitant say hi because something pulls us back. There might be many such experiences in our lives when we held back because we were shy or because our ego held us back.
In the initial days of my entrepreneurship, I was even hesitant to ask for payment from my own clients once the invoice was sent, even though we had delivered our services.
It’s a very simple but a magical thing, I suppose. Knocking the door of possibility doesn’t mean that the door will open, it may or may not, but it’s our responsibility to knock. If we leave it unknocked we might miss the door which opens to many hidden possibilities. An ask has the power to change our destiny!
Today I am grateful to the ‘art of asking’ which is the magical key to unlocking undiscovered treasures.
